Restaurant Review:
Al Grissino

Dining in the restaurants at the Dubai International Financial Centre (DIFC) is always an exciting prospect and the experience, food and in some cases, the view you are treated to are top-notch! We were recently invited to sample the menu at Italian restaurant, Al Grissino, an elegant restaurant and lounge sitting pretty on the 16th floor of DIFC. Al Grissino is one of the restaurants participating in the city’s first Dubai restaurant month that takes place between the 15th of October and 15th of November!
Elegance is rife at Al Grissino; the décor is graceful and the service splendid. A pianist belting out some lovely tunes on a grand piano lends a further touch of class to the establishment that has a dedicated area for diners and one which is converted into an effervescent bar.  The set menu for Dubai restaurant week comprises of a trio of starters, mains and desserts respectively and here’s what we opted for:

  • Gamberi Alla Catalana: Prawns catalan style with tomatoes, onions and vinegar
  • Burrata Con Concassé di pomodori e olio al basilica: Burrata with concassé tomatoes and olive oil

  • Risotto ai porcini e funghi di bosco: Porcini and mixed mushroom risotto
  • Filetto di branzino alla Siciliana: Sea Bass Sicilian style with cherry tomatoes, olives and capers

  • Tiramisu
  • Sottobosco: Rum ice cream, orange zabaione and dried fruit

The prawns were delicious BUT the Burrata was out of this world and we are not kidding! As tasty as the prawns were, the minute we bit into the Burrata, we both wondered why we hadn’t ordered two portions of the dish. It was plain flawless! The risotto was perfectly velvety and the better of the two mains.

The desserts were a nice surprise. Premium presentations and lovely savors in both made for an awesome end to the meal. The Sottobosco resembled the mushroom abode of a Smurf and was too cute to eat, but we still did because it was too luscious not to. The rum ice cream in this custard style dish was a really good touch and the meringues that were in both desserts were the ideal crunchy additions.

Like we mentioned earlier, a lot of the thrill in dining at DIFC is the matchless view of Downtown Dubai you get from some of the restaurants and Al Grissino is one of them! With the impeccable, knowledgeable servers and scrumptious food on one side and the majestic Burj Khalifa on the other, dining at Al Grissino is a superb place for a chic night out.

PS: Make sure you order (MORE THAN ONE PORTION OF) the Burrata.
